This is the page where you get to setup your sub inventory and cost control attributes or templates (rules and settings). If you need more information about sub inventory, please see this help file that talks about that subject.

This page is divided into a couple of main sections. The top deals with the part or item category settings. Then there are areas for setting up (adding or editing) sub attributes for text entries or pre-built drop-down menus, numeric entries, and date/time entries. These are really important, especially the sub template status and the sort.

Going back to the top, one of the main fields that sometimes gets overlooked is the sub template status. It must be set to "Active/Use/Show" in order for the template settings to work. If not, you may have sub inventory attributes that you want to use but they won't show up. That little switch is key piece of the puzzle.

Going down into the actual sub attributes themselves. Once again, there are three different sections. The top one deals with text entries and pre-built drop-down menus. These are for things like open entry (something that changes all the time) or preset or pre-built menus (super constant and only certain things apply). If you choose to setup a preset menu, use the "|" (pipe key - above the enter key) to seperate the list. For example: Say you were doing colors. The entry may look like this: black|red|blue|yellow or for sizes, something like this: XS|SM|MED|LG|XL|XXL|XXXL - hopefully you get the idea.

There are a number of other settings, including required, show/hide on invoice, label options, sort, status, show on web, etc. Once a sub attribute exists, it may be used over and over again as you create your sub packages. Once it does exist, it will be given an id number. That id number may be important later on when dealing with custom labels. Don't worry about it until you need it. Also, it will always show up on this page if the case that you do need it.

By default, there will be three entries per sub section - 3 text or preset menus options, 3 numeric options, and 3 date options. If you run out of sub attributes (I need more fields), simply submit the form and then come back to this same page. There will be 3 new fields below what you already have in place. Repeat as often as needed.
